Vitamin B Complex
Vitamin B Complex includes all the essential B vitamins along with Folate and Biotin.
The B vitamins are important for the maintenance of a healthy central nervous system, help maintain mental alertness, improve energy product and strengthen bones and muscles, help maintain an supple skin, and prevent nervous disorders such as insomnia, fatigue and irritability.
Folate, or folic acid, helps reduce homocysteine levels. High levels are associated with heart disease and stroke. There is some evidence that it fights certain cancers.
Biotin helps metabolize fats, carbohydrates and proteins and helps the body utilize the other B vitamins.
Vitamin B levels decrease as we age. You can take each of the eight major B vitamins individually or you can take a B Complex, such as Twin Lab Stress Vitamin B Complex, which contains all the major B's along with calcium.
Calcium - Magnesium - Vitamin D
Calcium 500, Magnesium & Vitamin D are all necessary minerals.
There is an epidemic of osteoporosis in the United States. Osteoporosis weakens the bones and leaves you vulnerable to fractures. While the disease is more prevalent in women, men suffer from it also. The current recommendation is that all men and women over 50 take 1200 mg of calcium daily.
As everyone knows, calcium aids in bone growth and helps prevent osteoporosis. It can even reverse bone damage and rebuild new bone. It also helps relieve muscle spasms, lowers blood pressure and aids muscle contraction.
Vitamin D is necessary for proper absorption of calcium. We usually synthesize Vitamin D from sun exposure, but our bodies' ability to do so decreases with age. While there are many dietary sources of Vitamin D, such as fish, fortified milk and yogurt, most people still need to take supplements to ingest enough.
A recently reported large cancer study found that men with higher levels of vitamin D in their blood were half as likely to develop prostate cancer than those with lower amounts.
Magnesium is a mineral that is also necessary for proper bone growth. It also regulates blood pressure, aides in the production of energy and maintains muscle tone.
You can take each of these supplements separately or take a supplement such as Rainbow Light Calcium Plus which contain the proper vitamins and minerals in proper proportion.
