Products to Repair Skin DamageAntiAging Skin Care Products Proven to Heal Skin Damage and to Remove Wrinkles
For years, researchers, pharmaceutical and drug companies have been looking for ways to repair that skin damage. In many cases they turned to nature for help. Acids derived from Vitamin A are generally grouped together under the category of retinoic. Retinoic acid or tretinoin (trans-retinoic)has multiple effects on various organs including the skin. One of the best advantages is that it stimulates the response of skin cells to the epidermal growth factor, making it an effective antiaging skin care product, since this is the natural hormone is responsible for skin cell growth.
Retinoic acid is better known as Retin-A and is also found in Renova, which is formulated in a creamier moisturizing base for mature or very dry skin. There are some other brand names as well. Retin-A helps the skin to renew itself more quickly and therefore reduces pimple and blackhead formation, and may improve the appearance and texture of skin, by removing wrinkles and discolorations. The Retin-A and Avita brands of tretinoin topical creams are used to treat acne. The Renova brand of tretinoin is an antiaging skin care product used to heal skin damage, reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and mottled skin discoloration, and to make rough facial skin feel smoother. These drugs work by irritating the skin and cause exfoliation to the point where the growth of new collagen is stimulated, fine wrinkles are reduced and skin thickness and elasticity are increased. Generally they are only available by prescription in the United States. As effective as they are, they can cause mild to moderate skin irritation. Some people discontinue the treatment because of itchiness, dryness or redness in the treated areas. For that reason, research was begun to try to find a product as effective as retinoic acid in healing skin damage, but gentler. The result was furfuryladenine. ABC News reported on July 30, 2001 that "Furfuryladenine, a plant-derived compound that retains water in the skin, is a promising product that is promoted as reversing the aging process. It is a nonirritating alternative for those who are unable to tolerate tretinoin products" Furfuryladenine is a plant derived compound that helps retain water in the skin. It is a non-irritating alternative to those who cannot tolerate Renova or other tretinon compounds. Studies have shown that in a 0.1% solution, it is equivalent or superior to Renova in healing skin damage with little or no side effects. Furfuryladenine is a plant growth factor and helps to partially reverse the effects of photoaging of the skin. When applied as a cream or lotion it helps smooth the skin, diminish the fine spider veins some of us develop as we age and dimishes mottled discoloration of the skin, usually caused by sun damage.
It is available commercially without a prescription as Kinerase These products, especially tretinoin, tend to make the skin even more sensitive to sun exposure, so be careful to use a broad spectrum sun block whenever you are exposed. So, if you have photoaged skin, you now have a gentler alternative treatment to remove wrinkles and improve your appearance.
