Anti-Aging Skin Care for Oily Sensitive Skin
Skin Care That Should Work
Anti-Aging Skin Care Can Be Tricky When You Have Oily And/Or Sensitive Skin
I use Clinique.
I am concerned after reading through your website that for the money I spend I'm not getting the best products for my skin concerns.
I'm 43 with mild rosacea, melasma, large pores from acne in years past. I use (AM) Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser, Youth Surge SPF 15, then apply pressed powder makeup; (PM) same cleanser, Zero Gravity Repairwear Lift.
I don't see the results I thought I would, except my oily skin has balanced out.
It seems the moisturizers make my face red and I'm concerned about the sun protection especially for summer.
Also I recently discovered Atopalm. What can you tell me about their products in regard to my skin concerns?
Your fave, PTR, sounds great because I have the deep wrinkle between my eyes, the ( ) and light crow's feet but I'm concerned about my skin reacting to it. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your time.
Kristy
I assume you have consulted a dermatologist about your rosacea and melasma. What I can tell you here is no substitute for medical advice.
Clinique Youth Surge SPF 15 is definitely light on sun protection for a day cream. With both Youth Surge and Clinique Zero Gravity Repairwear Lift, you are probably using the versions formulated for combination oily to oily skin.
Even so, I suspect that Youth Surge may be too rich and creamy for your oily skin based on the contents of its very lengthy (66) ingredient list. As well, with so many ingredients, the likelihood of an adverse skin reaction such as redness increases.
Clinique Zero Gravity Repairwear Lift for oily skin has a slightly shorter list of ingredients (57). Unfortunately, Denatured Alcohol is seventh on the list and while it is likely included to dry your oily skin, it also is an oxidant which causes free radical damage.
Repairwear Lift has some very nice inclusions, especially Retinol and Acetyl Hexapeptide-3. Both the Clinique creams have excellent antioxidant cocktails and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the dry to dry combination skin versions for people with less sensitive skin than yours.
Atopalm
Note that Atopalm MLE Cream is on my Affordable Top Ten Anti-Aging Skin Care List with the special note "Excellent for sensitive skin, rosacea and eczema".
I would have no qualms recommending that you give Atopalm a try. I believe it would be better for your sensitive skin.
Peter Thomas Roth
I have two Peter Thomas Roth products on my Top Ten Anti-Aging Skin Care List:
#1 is Roth Un-Wrinkle;
#2 is Roth Mega Rich Eye Crème.
My special note on Roth Un-Wrinkle says, "Not recommended for oily skin."
If it is the Mega Rich Eye Crème you are considering, it would be a bit of a splurge. On the plus side, Roth is known for avoiding known skin irritants in its products.
You'll find my full review of Roth Mega Rich Eye Crème here.
Since I mentioned the alcohol in Clinique Zero Gravity Repairwear Lift as a negative for you earlier, I should mention that the fifth ingredient in Roth Mega-Rich Eye is Cetyl Alcohol. Then I must hasten to add, Cetyl Alcohol is not related to the drying form of alcohol and is actually a skin moisturizer.
Bottom Line Recommendations for Kristy's Sensitive Oily Skin
Any Atopalm products - I think you will be very pleased with these.Roth Mega Rich Eye Crème - Apply sparingly to the areas where lines and wrinkles are starting to appear until you can gauge your skin's reaction.
Broad spectrum sun protection such as Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 55 for day.
