Travel for Plastic Surgery
Save Money by Traveling for Your Plastic Surgery
Who does the Threadlift procedure and how much do they charge?
Is it worth traveling abroad for this procedure?
Susan
I would suggest that you contact your local association of plastic surgeons or your local medical society. They should be able to put you in contact with a doctor who does this procedure.
Once you find a doctor, he will give you the total costs of the procedure.
As to whether it's worth it to travel abroad for the treatment, there are more variables to that than I can answer.
For example I spend a lot of time in Mexico. You can find well trained plastic surgeons and modern hospitals. Many doctors have post graduate training in the US or Europe.
Many are certified in their specialties by well regarded licensing boards and are familiar with the latest plastic surgery procedures.
Plastic surgery in Mexico generally costs a fraction of the price you would pay in the US. Aftercare is usually better and nursing services are cheaper.
The doctors tend to spend more time with their patients and listen to their needs.
As a result, many people travel to Mexico just for medical or dental procedures.
On the minus side, medical malpractice is unknown in Mexico and the doctors and hospitals don't carry insurance (this is one of the reasons costs are so much less), so if there's a problem, you're on your own.
First I suggest you find out how much the threadlift procedure costs where you live and then check out prices in the country you interested in going to.
Then figure in your travel costs and see if you come out ahead.
If you'd like to vacation in the area, it might make sense. The other good thing about plastic surgery abroad is that your friends and family won't see you while your face is swollen or black and blue.
If you do go overseas, make sure you get a well qualified plastic surgeon.
If you're going to what's generally considered a developed country, you should have no trouble finding qualified plastic surgeons.
If you are thinking of going to less developed countries, where you will save the most money, you have to be more careful.
Look for doctors who have some training, preferably an internship and residency in the US, Britain or other developed western countries. Also look for physicians that are certified by medical boards in the US, Europe or Japan in their specialty.
This decision will require a lot of research on your part before you make your decision. Fortunately it is easier to do with the internet.
