Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Serum

Rated #2 in Consumer Reports Test

This is the last I will say about the Consumer Reports test of Anti-Wrinkle Serums. I promise. Lol.

CR judged the best two of the nine anti-wrinkle serums they tested to be only "Slightly Effective".

I reviewed the #1 CR pick: DermaSilk 5 Minute Face Lift with the active ingredient of slime secreted by the common garden snail. Really! Would I kid you about something like that?

Here is my review of the #2 CR pick.

Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Serum

The Neutrogena ads say that this Deep Wrinkle Serum features:

• Multi-vitamin complex of antioxidants to help neutralize skin-damaging free radicals;


• Sustained Action Retinol - A Retinol compound patented to "continuously renew the look of skin throughout the day, helping smooth wrinkles fast and diminish the look of age spots"; and


• Skin conditioners to cushion skin as they hydrate, replenish and revitalize with line-plumping moisture.

This quite creamy (for a) serum is chock full of silicones to give it a silky feel.

Frankly it has little else to recommend it. The "multi-vitamin complex" is only Retinol (Vitamin A) and Tocopherol (Vitamin E). In my mind "two" doesn’t qualify as "multi".

Though the opaque vacuum pump bottle does ensure the Retinol remains stable, Retinol’s position in the ingredient list (14 out of 23) indicates a fairly low concentration in the formula.

On the plus side, Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Serum includes Oat Kernel Extract which is a temporary skin tightener and Licorice Root to lighten age spots and even out skin tone.

I repeat my original question, are these the best anti-wrinkle serums Consumer Reports could find to test?
