Tips on Softening Rough Hands
Do these sound like aging hands or just very busy ones?
After reading a blog entry I posted about anti-aging care for hands, Steve wrote that he has no wrinkles on his hands yet but has noticed that the skin is dull and rough.
He asked how he can get his hands looking and feeling nice again, as well as keep them from looking old - a topic covered in Anti-Aging Hand Care Routine.
Steve's condition sounds like very dry skin. Perhaps he works a lot with his hands - in water or chemicals - and/or spends a lot of time outdoors.
My advice would be to use a full spectrum sun protection with SPF 30 or more and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
For hands excessively exposed to the elements, I would recommend a hand cream with glycerin or silicones like Ahava's Dermud or Avon's Moisture Therapy Intensive Hand Cream. These form a good barrier film to hold moisture in and keep drying wind out.
Either is excellent for really dry skin.
Keeping skin moisturized and protected from the sun are the first two skin care steps in my Step Up Your Skin Care program.
I advise people to take a step up - and add certain anti-aging ingredients - only when their skin reaches the appropriate age.
Dermatologists tell us it is possible to get too much of a good thing when it comes to anti-aging skin care.
