Removing Unwanted Body Hair Permanently & Safely
By: Balaji B
Both males and females have unwanted hairs on their bodies. Everybody wishes to be fresh and energetic.
Hair removal can be done in a number of different ways according the level of excess hair on the body.
About 80% of women and around 50% of men are opting for hair removal in some form or another.
Facial hair removal is popular among men and women. Hair removal in the hands, legs, arms, underarms, bikini area, face, and eyebrows is also commonly practiced these days.
Athletes choose hair removal since it will cut down their wind resistance and improve their competitive speeds.
There are reports that hair removal salons are getting more and more male customers.
Different devices are used for hair removal in different parts of the body. Waxing, sugaring, electrolysis and laser treatments are preferred methods for permanent body hair removal.
Waxing
A method of hair removal in which wax is applied over the hairs and then a cotton strip is rubbed on the wax in the direction of the hair growth. Then the cotton strip is removed in the opposite direction of the hair growth for permanent body hair removal.
( For one poor woman's tale of a do-it-yourself waxing job, read A Waxing Nightmare.)
Waxing removes the hairs from the roots and the regrowth of hairs in the treated area takes between 6 to 8 weeks.
After waxing, if the hair regrows, it will be thinner and sparser. There will be fewer hairs in the treated area.
Upon further waxing the hairs will die off permanently.
Sugaring
Another method that is used for permanent hair removal. A sugar paste is used instead of wax for removal.
Whether waxing or sugaring, a male is advised to use a hair growth inhibitor after the treatment to prevent hair or slow down the regrowth of hairs.
Most of the athletes involved in the sports like swimming and cycling opt for permanent body hair removal, hair removal would improve their speeds by reducing air friction.
There are also devices that are used for permanent body hair removal. Each device comes with its own functionality and ease of use with a price tag that is affordable.
Electrolysis and Laser
Treatments that remove hair permanently from the skin. These methods destroy the hair follicle so that the hair does not grow again.
Electrolysis uses needles to supply electric current to the hair follicles. This electric current creates chemical changes or generates heat to destroy the hair follicles.
Laser beams can be directed towards the hair follicles to destroy them. Laser treatments are more costly when compared to other methods of hair removal.
