Green Tea Extract Anti-Oxidant Skin Care Products
Green Tea Extracts Have Many Proven AntiAging Skin Care and Health Benefits
Green tea has been used as a medicine in the Far East for thousands of years. It has many purported health benefits, many of which have been substantiated by medical research. Green tea is processed differently from other teas and this is suspected to be the reason for its effectiveness.
Green Tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).
EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: it's been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and can even kill cancer cells without harming healthy surrounding tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. EGCG can also help the body fight infection, is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and restore impaired immune functions.
The Japanese also believe that substances in green tea kill the bacteria responsible for food poisoning, suppress the formation of dental plaque, control blood pressure and slow the aging process.
Green tea contains caffeine and, if taken in sufficient quantities to be helpful, can cause insomnia.
I personally hate the taste of tea, so I was happy about a study that came out late last year that found that more of the polyphenols contained in the tea were absorbed when taking extract supplements, rather than drinking the tea itself, even though the tea had higher levels of polyphenols in it.
Meanwhile another recent study, this time by Hasan Mukhtar, MD indicates that there is a benefit in using skin products containing green tea extracts. The key is the powerful antioxidants contained in the tea. They bind to free radicals that cause damage to the cells and skin, preventing them from doing any harm.
One of the major catechin polyphenols found in green tea has been shown to be the most effective agent against skin inflammation and cancerous changes in the skin.
Derma-E's Alpha Lipoic Acid & Green Tea Extract combines two of the most effective antioxidants for topical skin care, alpha lipoic acid and green tea extract. It is able to protect all portions of the cell against free radical damage, while it boosts the cell's energy production and cellular renewal, encouraging the repair of damaged skin.
Green tea extract, in addition to its antioxidant benefits, is also anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and protects the skin from UVB and UVA radiation damage.
Finally, if you would like to take supplements solely or in addition to antiaging skin care treatments, GNC Green Tea Extract provides a daily dose of the essential antioxidants contained in green tea that can work on the cells and organs and provide your body with all the protection green tea can afford. The benefit from the supplement should be much greater than from a skin cream alone.

Green tea is yet another weapon in the antiaging skin care arsenal to keep in mind.
