It may be a message you don't want to send. Misshapen brows can telegraph, "I'm angry", "I'm surprised", or simply "I'm old and out of style".

Even if your brows have been plucked to within an inch of their lives, you can restore youthful flattering brows that say only good things about you with eye brow stencils and a bit of practice.

Knowing how your brows would best be shaped and making them so are two entirely different things.

If you have trouble drawing a straight (or arched) line in this case, try some eye brow templates. It's not as if you will need to use them every day for the rest of your life. Who has time for that?!

You will learn to draw the best shape for you with practice, just like you became accustomed to drawing those skinny little lines that shout "old" and "dated".

The Ardell brow shaping product is an envelope of four transparent plastic stencils: Delicate; Elegant; Glamorous; and Classic. Easy to follow instructions are on the envelope. $4

Tester Comments:

• Good price
• Plastic should be more flexible. You can't get a stencil to lay flat against the brow without distorting the shape.
• These take a bit of practice to learn to use, but I like the shapes. There's one here for every woman.

Anastasia Beverly Hills All about Brows Kit

The Anastasia kit comes in a pretty pink zipper case and includes: four flexible plastic stencils (Petite Arch, Medium Arch, Slim High Arch and High Arch); two shades of brow powder in a silver compact; brow brush (angled on one end and "spooley" on the other); precision tweezers; and brow gel. Clear directions with diagrams are on the box. $65

Tester Comments:

• I love the kit, but it would be a splurge for me
• If you price out the individual components, the price is fair
• The rubbery plastic is very easy to position and hold while filling in my brows.
• The directions are very helpful except I disagree with one thing. If I line up the inner edge of the brow stencil directly above the "center of the nostril", I get very angry looking brows - like I'm scowling. If I line it up directly above the edge of the nostril, the brows are very flattering. Maybe it's just me. I have a thin nose and face.
• Best brow gel I've ever used.
