Anew Force Exfoliating Cream Review

Try Avon's Line & Wrinkle Corrector if Anew Force is Too Powerful for You

I am so happy I found your site!

I hope you can help me. I have been using the Anew Force Extra Triple Lifting Night Cream - now discontinued. Not only did I like it for the anti-aging properties, but it also cleared up any blemishes I usually get throughout the month.

However, the scent is overpowering for me and irritates my eyes. (I have bad allergies.)

However, every time I quit using it, I get more blemishes and my pores return to their not so pretty state. Is there another product with the same qualities as this, sans the scent?

Thank you so much if you can help.

Candice

Though you find the fragrance of Anew Force Extra offensive, the fragrance is probably not what is causing your eyes to burn. I suspect that Avon added the fragrance to try to cover the chemical odor of the active ingredients.

What makes Force Extra so effective in minimizing breakouts is an Avon trademarked ingredient called trioxaundecanedioic acid (oxa acid for short). Avon developed oxa acid as an exfoliating compound.

They were aiming for an exfoliant as powerful as, but less irritating than, the various alpha-hydroxy acids. It was pure happenstance that oxa acid also proved to be very effective against breakouts.

Note that there is a warning on the bottom of the jar to avoid contact with the eyelids or eyes. Oxa acid was found to be a severe eye irritant when tested on rabbits' eyes.

As you've learned, it is also an irritant for human eyes.

Here are a couple of suggestions that may allow you to continue using Force Extra to fight breakouts, as well as to enjoy the exfoliating and moisturizing benefits of this product.

Find a separate eye cream or facial moisturizer that you like. Use this on eyelids and around your eyes to bathe the eye area with a moisture barrier against the oxa acid.

I found Avon Clinical Line and Wrinkle Corrector to be very helpful in combating my dry eye problem; so I think it does create the moist eye environment you need and would be a good choice.

Apply Force Extra sparingly so that it will be absorbed where you put it and not migrate to the eye area. Avoid the eye area. Wash your hands after applying Force Extra.

If these steps don't help, read about excellent exfoliating creams to try.

Those which contain beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) would be your best bet, since BHAs are also used to combat acne.
