Dr.Brandt Review

Questions about Dr.Brandt's r3p Eye Cream

Could you give me any reviews/information on Dr. Brandt's 3p eye cream please?

Thanks!

Karen

I like Dr. Brandt's website motto: "Dr. Brandt - Take the doctor home with you." This is followed by a message from the doctor.

"dr. brandt skincare is much more than just a ‘doctor brand'. As a practicing celebrity dermatologist, Dr. Fredric Brandt restlessly searches for state of the art ingredients and technologically advanced delivery systems that mimic his in-office procedures. Expect flawless ageless looking skin in minimal time, just like the doctor ordered."

Dr. Brandt's qualifications as a dermatologist are impressive. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Dermatology, contributes to professional journals and maintains very successful practices in Miami and NYC.

The hallmarks of his skin care products are powerful antioxidants, most notably Green Tea, Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Since many anti-aging skin care products contain antioxidant cocktails, this alone, in my opinion, would not justify the high price of the Dr. Brandt line.

So I looked at the full ingredient list to see what the anti-aging powerhouse might be.

Frankly I didn't find much, but read on.

Dr. Brandt's site provides complete ingredient lists for all the products (which is nice), but I was a bit confused by the one for the r3p eye cream.

The product description says r3p is "formulated with age-busting peptides". However the "Full ingredient list" contains only two which contain the word "peptide": Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and Ascorbic Acid Polypeptide.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is the well-known Botox-mimicking anti-aging peptide trademarked as Argireline.

Please note that not all peptides or polypeptides have anti-aging properties.

Ascorbic Acid Polypeptide falls into the "not" category.

Though this form of Vitamin C is a good antioxidant and skin conditioning agent which provides protection against future skin damage, I've not read any research to indicate it has age-reversal effects.

In addition to the "Full ingredient list", there is a list of "Key Ingredients". Palmitoyl Oligopeptide appears in the second list but not the first, which might lead one to assume it is not in this particular product.

However, the "3p" in the product name probably refers to "3 peptides", so it would make sense that Palmitoyl Oligopeptide is included in the eye cream and the fact that it is missing from the "Full ingredient list" is probably a simple omission.

The effect of Palmitoyl Oligopeptide is to stimulate production of normal collagen thereby thickening the skin and plumping wrinkles from within.

In summary, r3p eye cream has a nice antioxidant combo, perhaps two anti-aging peptides, good moisturizers and just a touch of Retinyl Palmitate.

Retinyl Palmitate exfoliates and stimulates collagen growth but the small amount found here probably won't have much effect.
