DMAE AntiOxidant Skin Care Products
DMAE Provides Several AntiAging Skin Care Benefits
DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) is a precursor to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that allows nerves to communicate with each other.
Its primary use is in the treatment of Adult Deficit Disorder and Alzheimer's disease.
DMAE is abundant in fish, especially wild caught Alaskan salmon, sardines and anchovies.
Several years ago researchers discovered that DMAE had properties that made it very useful in antiaging and antiaging skin care. Specifically DMAE is a powerful antioxidant that not only helps brain function, but also helps restore and maintain a youthful skin tone.
It is thought that as we get older, the production of DMAE decreases. This in turn decreases the supply of acetylcholine, which allows our muscles to become stretched, causing a loss of skin tone.
Nicholas Perricone, MD, for one, feels that we should eat a diet rich in fish, take DMAE supplements and apply facial creams containing DMAE solutions. His book, The Perricone Prescription contains some rather dramatic before and after pictures taking during a clinical trial of DMAE by the drug maker, Johnson & Johnson.
These pictures make it clear that DMAE is very effective at toning the skin and removing fine lines and wrinkles.
Generally DMAE is mixed with Alpha Lipoic Acid and a Vitamin C Ester to produce maximum results.
Alpha Lipoic Acid is the universal antioxidant, soluble in both oil and water. This means that it can protect the outer layers of our internal cells, made primarily of fat, as well as the cell contents themselves, primarily water soluble. Alpha Lipoic Acid is much more powerful than vitamins C & E and its solubility makes it easy to penetrate the skin.

Vitamin C Ester is vitamin C combined with oil. The vitamin C we take as a supplement is water soluble and highly acidic. It has a very short life span when used in a facial cream.
However, by combining it with an oil several things happen. The acidity is cut, so that it will no longer burn or sting when put on the skin and it's it able to penetrate the skin, delivering vitamin C's antioxidant power to the underlying cells. Furthmore, it is more stable and longer lasting.
DMAE increases the effectiveness of both Alpha Lipoic Acid and the vitamin C ester when applied together. The results are an almost immediate reduction in fine lines and wrinkles that becomes more pronounced with continuing use.
For DMAE supplements, consider Source Naturals DMAE.
As far as facial creams are concerned you have several to choose from: Reviva Labs Alpha Lipoic Acid Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Night Cream; Source Naturals Skin Eternal DMAE Serum; or Derma E DMAE - Alpha Lipoic - C-Ester Retexturizing Creme Hydratante . All will provide the dramatic results demonstrated in the Johnson & Johnson study.
Finally, Great Skin sells what they call the All In One, Scalpel-less Face Lift Cream. Containing Alpha Lipoic Acid, DMAE, Vitamin C, Co-enzyme Q-10, Grape Seed Oil Extract, Pycogenol, Copper, Zinc, L Carnitine, Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid, and Retinal, this product, available as a serum or cream, is a true powerhouse of antioxidant antiaging skin care. All the ingredients are effective antioxidants that are proven to aide in rebuilding collagen and elastin, thus reducing the appearence of facial lines and wrinkles.
DMAE has been shown to be a very effective antiaging product and one you should consider.
