Plans for Sensible Lifelong Weight Control
A recent study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association tried to determine if one of four popular diet plans was more effective than the others. The plans were Atkins, Omish, Weight Watchers and the Zone.
After a year the results of those who stayed on the diets were statistically insignificant. Basically all the plans work if you stick with them.
What this means is that if you want to diet, you have to pick one you can live with. If one plan doesn't work for you, keep trying others until you find something you can live with.
You have to look at diet and weight control as a long term commitment.
Just about anybody can deprive themselves of certain foods or food groups for a while, but eventually just about everybody gives in to their food cravings.
Also a diet is not a race. Losing ten pounds in two weeks is doable for some, but you're just as likely to regain that same ten pounds and then some just a quickly. A long term stable diet is much better than a fad.
Weight Watchers has been around for quite a while and has published three studies evaluating how good the program works.
It is one of the few diet concerns that have any scientific proof at all of the value of their program. One of the reasons that Weight Watchers works is because it has changed along with the needs of its customers and also because it has a large support group that many people find helpful.
But even Weight Watchers will not work if you can't or won't follow the program.
While low calorie diets can be dangerous, any diet that helps you reduce calories and maybe even gets you to exercise a little is worth looking into.
For proven plans that work, please read Diet Plans and Diet Books.
As I have said before, experts maintain that one of the best antiaging actions you can take is to maintain a constant normal body weight. Lifelong healthy eaying and exercise are the only way to do that. If you need help, consider either one of these programs. It might mean a world of difference to your lifestyle.
