Injectable Botox, Restylane and Dysport Warning

I wrote a lengthy article a couple of years ago about various Botox Scares/Scams and what you should know to help you decide whether to go "under the needle", plus how to protect yourself if you do.
When I saw the following news article I thought I'd better remind you.
A former salon owner in Issaquah, Washington was sentenced on recently to 13 months in jail plus one year's probation for injecting customers with counterfeit materials, claiming them to be Botox or Restylane.
Some women needed medical treatment. One required corrective surgery and is left with permanent scars.
Further, the salon owner was not even trained or licensed to administer cosmetic injections.
District Judge Marsha J. Pechman noted that the defendant, Xin He (a.k.a. Faith He) persisted in her felonious behavior after warnings from employers, regulators, agents and others.
Assistant United States Attorney Kathryn Warma urged the court to reject the defense request for a probationary sentence noting, "This defendant cannot be trusted. She is a liar and manipulator - she was exposing every person she treated to risk of death." Ms. Warma noted that until the court ordered Ms. He into custody, "No one, nothing, had stopped her before."
Before undergoing injectable treatment for wrinkles, ask to see a license showing that the person is trained and certified for the procedure and ask to see the sealed Botox or Restylane vial.
To be even safer, have medical procedures in a medical setting. No Botox parties; no beauty salons.
If you're looking for Botox bargains and someone suggests you try Dysport, a brand of type A botulinum toxin from Europe now approved by the FDA fro use in the U.S., be aware that Dysport has a significantly larger area of migration to adjacent muscles than Botox.
