A Review Three Apotek AntiAging Skin Care Products

Ápotek Smart Skin Care

Ápotek is a fairly new line of anti-aging skin care based on cosmeceutical peptides.

If you visit Ageless Beauty frequently or follow my blog, you know that I am a firm believer in the anti-aging – no, age-reversing – benefits of peptides. And I practice what I preach.

I bought ápotek’s Cellular Repair Complex and Radiant Finish Emulsion to test and received the Total Lip Treatment as a gift with purchase. If you look at the ingredient list for Cellular Repair, you will see that the peptides are quite high indicating that ápotek Cellular Repair provides a good dose of peptides.

At my age (62), I want my skin care routine to include broad spectrum sun protection, the best moisturizers and antioxidants, exfoliants, filling peptides and lifting peptides.

Ápotek Cellular Repair

In order of appearance, Cellular Repair includes three powerful cosmeceutical peptides.

• Acetyl hexapeptide-3, the so-called Botox-mimicking peptide, which interferes with nerve signals that tell facial muscles to tense in exaggerated expressions.
• Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, a lifting peptide that stops and reverses glycation damage which causes to skin to loosen and sag.
• Palmitoyl Oligopeptide a filling peptide which plumps wrinkles from within.

Ápotek Cellular Repair fulfills three and a half of my skin care requirements.

It contains effective concentrations of lifting peptides, filling peptides and some of the best moisturizers. It also contains some good antioxidants but I feel my skin needs more free radical protection.

Ápotek Radiant Finish

I absolutely love Radiant Finish. This is more a cosmetic than a cosmeceutical, but it gives my skin a wonderful silky feel. It is a makeup primer with light-reflecting particles to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, enlarged pores and uneven skin tone.

If your skin is in its 40s or early 50s, you may be able to skip foundation entirely with Radiant Finish. But if you still need foundation, it glides on beautifully over Radiant Finish used as a makeup base.

Radiant Finish contains one very interesting active ingredient, adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP functions in the body to facilitate metabolism, cell division and protein synthesis. Read more about ATP here.

Research into topically applied ATP is just beginning, but it appears to work similarly to the body’s own ATP and therefore has strong potential as a cell-communicating ingredient and inflammation modulator.

If you are a Dr. Perricone fan as I am, you probably know that he and a growing body of researchers consider inflammation to be the underlying cause of physical aging.

Ápotek Total Lip Treatment

The only thing I don’t like about ápotek Total Lip Treatment is that, like all other lip plumpers, it contains an irritant which makes your lips sting for a little while.

I haven’t read any research demonstrating that this irritation causes the lips to swell; though it seems to be included to create that illusion. To me, an irritant is just that and I wish they would leave it out.

Anti-aging is all about preventing and reversing damage done to the body over time. I don’t want to use anything that is creating a temporary appearance of youth while doing damage. So please, get rid of the irritants. I think it is the sandalwood extract in Total Lip which causes the stinging.

Other than that, ápotek Total Lip Treatment’s ingredient list is impressive. It has lots of silicone to smooth and heal. It contains my favorite moisturizer, hyaluronic acid, which happens to be the most powerful one available and is a skin identical ingredient that the skin can incorporate easily.

It also contains the stable form of vitamin C as an antioxidant, aloe to sooth and heal and a touch of palmitoyl oligopeptide, one of the filling peptides.

At MakeupAlley.com, they award up to five “lippies” to rate products. I think lippies are quite appropriate here. I give ápotek Total Lip Treatment 4 lippies.

Since I think ápotek Cellular Repair Complex, while excellent overall, is a bit light on antioxidant protection at my age, I have added Revaléskin Day Cream with coffeeberry extract to my a.m. routine.
