What's New in Ageless Beauty, Issue 19 August 01, 2006 |
| Hi Are you overwhelmed by the proliferation of topical peptide anti-aging skin care creams? Do you know how to interpret the ads and ingredient lists so that you can compare products and decide which one is best for you? I have to admit, I’ve experienced the same confusion. Product ads definitely do not help. Most manufacturers don’t really want you to pull back the curtain and see that their wizard (cream) has the same ingredients as that of the competition. And then there are the so-called “reviews from actual users” that you find all over the Internet. How can you be sure these “actual users” actually use the product? Maybe they are manufacturers’ reps trying to hype the brands they sell. Maybe they just like to see their words in print. During July, I took it upon myself to dig deeper into the burgeoning topical peptide research and write a couple of guides to help you decide which peptide cream is best for you. I hope you find them helpful. And for when a topical cream simply won’t do the job – or won’t do it quickly enough to suit you, please read our update on the latest in injectable line fillers. I introduced our offical blog, aptly called the Ageless Beauty Blog. I post every other day. Pay me a visit.

Cosmeceutical Peptide Glossary
Not all peptides are the same; and that’s a marvelous – though potentially confusing – thing. Let us help you avoid being confused by the multitude of peptides advertised for anti-aging. Our Cosmeceutical Peptide Glossary is a short list – reflecting that the science of synthesizing topical anti-aging peptides is still in its infancy, as well as the fact that one peptide can go by various names. If you have questions about topical peptides which are not yet included in our glossary, please write to me by clicking here.
The Science Behind Topical Peptides In this series of articles The Science Behind Anti-Aging Topical Peptide Skin Care, you can read about the studies that have been performed on some of these amazing compounds. No need to rely on reviews by “actual users”. Now you can review the scientific evidence yourself and look at the before and after topographic maps of wrinkles treated with some of the latest polypeptides. In summary, these articles cover: GHK-Cu Copper Peptides, perhaps the most complete skin remodeling compound; Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3 which stimulates collagen production plumping out wrinkles from within; Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 which interferes with nerve transmissions for muscle contractions that form deep lines of expression; and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, the anti-sag peptide, which inhibits and reverses glycation damage thereby lifting and firming loose sagging skin on the face or body. Update on Injectable Wrinkle Fillers For those lines that are just too deep or those you want instantly erased, the list of injectable line fillers has gotten longer. More new treatments are awaiting FDA approval and are already available offshore. How does one decide? The main considerations are duration of results, cost and risks. Read our article about Injectable Wrinkle Fillers before you go under the needle.
